Three painting days and one excursion day to the Pueblos Blancos.
Atmospheric watercolour · Flowers
Explore the principles of atmospheric watercolour through flowers: washes, soft and defined edges, colour relationships and the balance of light and shadow. Jurga will demonstrate each approach, followed by time to paint and individual guidance.
Principles of composition · Fruit
Learn the principles of composition through a fruit still life. Explore arrangement, negative space, light and volume, and use colour and tonal contrast to create a balanced painting. Demonstrations and personal feedback will help you develop your own interpretation.
Excursion day
Explore Andalusia’s white villages, taking time to notice their architecture, colours and decorative details. Gather inspiration for your paintings and enjoy the day together, away from the painting table.
Patterns & ornaments
Explore the local tradition of ornamental ceramics and tiles. Learn how to paint complex patterns through simplification and suggestion, using rhythm, repeated shapes and colour to capture their character without painting every detail.

Painting sessions run from 11 am to 5 pm, with a break. All times are local.

Five nights in one welcoming place, with the white villages and landscape of Andalusia around you.

3–8 May 2027: arrive on Monday 3 May and depart on Saturday 8 May. Your five-night stay includes three painting days and one excursion day.
When are the painting sessions?
Tuition takes place on 4, 5 and 7 May, from 11 am to 5 pm with a break. All times are local. Demonstrations are followed by painting practice and individual guidance.
What will we paint?
The three teaching days explore flowers, a fruit still life, and patterns and ceramic forms. The Pueblos Blancos excursion is a separate day for exploring and gathering inspiration, with no scheduled painting tuition.
Is a private room included?
Yes. The £1,900-per-person price includes a private room for five nights at HR Mirador in Canillas de Albaida. Room photographs show examples of different room types. Please discuss couples’ arrangements, bathroom requirements and access needs with Waheed before booking.
Can beginners and solo travellers join?
Yes. Beginners and more experienced painters are welcome, with demonstrations and individual guidance. You can come on your own and have your own room, while painting and shared meals give you time to get to know the group.
How large is the group?
The retreat is planned for 8–10 participants. This gives Jurga time to offer individual feedback as well as group demonstrations.
What is included in £1,900?
Five nights in a private room at HR Mirador, three painting days with Jurga, one Pueblos Blancos excursion day, all meals, professional-grade painting materials and all transfers. Jurga also offers feedback on your work for up to one year. Flights, personal travel insurance and personal spending are separate.
How do I arrange my arrival and departure?
Share your proposed flight times with Waheed before booking travel so we can coordinate your included transfers. Your hotel stay is from 3 to 8 May. Airport meeting points and collection arrangements will be discussed with you directly.
Can you accommodate dietary or access requirements?
Tell Waheed about any dietary, allergy, mobility or room requirements before paying. We will discuss the hotel, meals and village excursion with you and confirm what can be arranged.
What happens after payment?
Stripe shows a payment confirmation, and the booking system sends an email acknowledging your payment. Waheed will follow up about your room and arrival arrangements. If you cannot find your email, contact us with the email address used at checkout.
What if I need to cancel?
Please ask Waheed for the cancellation and refund arrangements before paying. If you already have a booking, contact us directly with your booking reference and the terms supplied with your confirmation.
